Among other things, I had a committee meeting on Tuesday, which went well. I've gone to a couple talks. One talk was by Ben Levy, a math graduate student doing niche modeling for wild hogs in the Smokies. Super cool stuff. Another was by Hanna Kokko, whose talk was title "Males exist: Does it matter?" and which was in the end about the evolution of different gamete sizes that partially led to the differentiation of sexes. Finally, yesterday I went to the Baker Center Energy & Environment Forum to hear Amy Ando talk about using a financial tool for investing to inform conservation planning.
With all this stuff going on, I havent given much time to making progress on the dissertation. My main progress was to write a script that combines all the info I have about a development area into two pages and to do this automatically for all my development areas. Now, just need to combine all 160+ pages of that into something that I can understand.
